Hello all, have not seen any discussion on this but....

Jan 5, 2005 the cell providers will be making our numbers available to telemarketers.

I could be wrong, but I beleive that the numbers will only be available to 411 operators, not sold or available as list to telemarketers. The wording of the bill was pretty specific and was only allowed to pass with the restrictions that they will not be for sale.

Not a bad idea to put the number on the list in any case I guess.

While not quite a hoax, this has that "do this right away or dire things will happen to you" tone. I have received a few emails already, and people are encouraging others to pass it around. Here is an article from the Sacramento Bee last week that clears it up:

Don't feel too silly. It may not happen in 2005, but it will happen. Soon the telephone hanging on the wall will be a thing of the past. It will only take two strokes of the pen by the cell providers; one to stop charging for incoming calls, and two, to increase the outgoing rates tomake up the difference. And quick a s wink you will be conversing with your long lost friends on the way to work. :yes:
