View Full Version : Internal Process Audit Sampling using MIL-STD-105-E - 500 operators on 3 shifts

Hi guys! I'd like to know from other auditors' point of view, how can you say that you've covered / sampled out every process? This is the case, we have about 500 operators working on a 3 shift schedule. How many operators should I audit for compliance on the process? My Boss says to use the MIL-STD-105-E as a basis for the number of operators to be sampled out for a particular shift. Under the MIL-STD-105-E, he particualrly mentioned to use the special inspection sample sizes (S3). Is this valid? Thanks and more power.

I know there is at least one thread here where sampling in auditing is discussed. Basically, you are not going to be able to use something as 'scientific' as a sampling table because, amongst other things, you will not always easily know the population size (how many design records do we have?).

If I can find that thread later I'll link it up. In the meantime (unless someone else knows the thread off hand) maybe some others will comment on sample size during audits.
