View Full Version : What are BBP,CTs,YTD perf?
peach 12th January 2005, 11:40 AM I dont know where to ask this question.
Our customer ask for starting continuos improvement programs, in mail they send it to us they mention certain terms which i dont understand. Can any one help me please.
""Top 5 report, driven from customer CTs 1.Review BBP/ Waste Report Metrics. Who is BIC?2.Waste walks3.Conduct VSM4.Create Product Quality Top 5""
In the above sentence i dont understand, what is BBP, and CTs
Another thing which i dont understand is,, "YTD Perf (What is current performance to each Metric?)" .. what is this means?
the last one,, "Metric (What Metrics in the Suppliers System are critical to both the Supplier and cutomer?)"
what kind of matric is this? Is this the tools, like six sigma , lean and all.. but there is another column for that. so i thought it is some thing else..
thanks in advance

Best Business Practice CT could be Certification Test, Conformance Test or 25 other things.
You haven't told us what type of business you are involved in, which could help. I'm guessing it's software related based on reference to VSM4.
Year To Date performance: How do you measure how well your doing from the beginning of the year to today or this week or month? What metrics are you going to use? On time delivery, non-conforming product etc.
Rather than have this group try to guess, ask your customer.

I do. Your customer.
There is nothing wrong to ask your customer to clarify their expectations and acronyms. If you don't feel you can have an open communication with your customers, then your problem is much deeper than not knowing a few acronyms..
YTD - Year to date.
peach 12th January 2005, 12:16 PM thanks for the reply
We are a metal forming comp, roll forming
its not VSM4.. VSM and 4 are different, VSM=value stream mapping and 4 is the number four ,, there are four things the cutomer mentioned, and thta 4 is for the fourth requirement.
i thought it is not fair to ask the cutomer about this, i thought it would make a bad impression.
thanks a lot,, and can you now guess what CTs is???
:thanx:

Dave Strouse 12th January 2005, 12:28 PM I agree best to ask customer, but you may be on right track to find the probable meanings, before you verify with them so I will say that the most likely is
CT = Critical To as in
Critical To Quality
Critical To Delivery
Critical To Cost
Critical To Process etc. etc.
I think they are inviting you to partner with them and ask them what they consider the critical elements, (Most likely all of the above) but they may rank some higher than others. Then they want you to work on the Top 5 things in your operation that affect their CTs.
peach 12th January 2005, 12:34 PM THanks a million,,, thats what exactly they are trying to do. They are trying to make us the partners and help us to grow....
