I was wondering if you can help me with something similar? We Just had out TS 16946 Audit and it was all bad. We got two majors and six minors. The Questions I have has to do with one of the minors. TS 16949: 2002 section 7.6.1 No evidence of MSD studies. We have three Attribute Gages that we had just resubmited for ppap and was approved by our customer Delphi. Per Our auditor the gages have to have statistical studies if they are referenced on the control plan. I guess I need to know if the customer signed the warrent is that not good enough? Second is it posible to show the Attribute gage as a press aid eliminating the need for ststistical studies unless there is a SPC or QCI? And last but not least should I or could I contest the Minor Written?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Debra

My interpretation is this:

7.6.1 says that all systems in the CP need to have statistical studies- there is a method of performing R&R for attributes

There is a worksheet in this thread
Simplified Attribute MSA Gauge R&R for Plug Gages (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=4518)
and here
Gage Pin R&R - Our calibration guy said he doesn't know how to do one (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?p=74356)

as it is for Delphi, here is a DELPHI file

Partcertall_6.15 3rd ed constants.xls (http://elsmar.com/Forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3213)
tab - 13 AGS
you can also find more information by searching

Despite the fact that the customer approved the PPAP not doing the study is not acceptable as the standard says you SHALL do it, according to the customer system or with his approval.

Hope this helps.

Hello Debra,
You need to perform an attribute gage study for the three gages that are in question.
Did you complete an attribute gage study??
If so, I do not see why you got a minor non-conformance.
