the gage manufacturer is not ready to give guarantee for 10% R&R for the new gages.
i wonder how everyone is ordering new comptors?
what is the situations in the QS9000 initiator companies like FORD,GM & Chrysler plants. who supplies them these comptors?
can anyone enlighten?
thanking everyone in anticipation

Typically R&R is done on parts you intend to measure. What I normally see is an R&R on each gage prior to its being placed into service.

10% R&R is expressed either as a % of Study Variation or Process Variation or of Tolerance. I feel the solution would be to simply attempt and select a different instrument suitable to measure the process. Due attention is also needed to ensure adequate discrimination to detect part to part variation.

Marc's got it right - you need to do the R&R on the actual part being measured, with the normal operators who make the measurement. There is no way a gage manufacturer can gaurantee the %R&R. They can gaurantee things like accuracy, repeatability, resolution, linearity, stability, etc., but not R&R. You will have to verify R&R yourself.
