The Forum software allows posters to quote their own or other posts in whole or in part, placing the quote in a convenient little box identified with the name of the person being posted.
The two keys to doing this are ensuring the "quote commands" are at the front and back of the quoted material [ALL IN CAPS] surrounded by lower case brackets.
The open quote command (I'm leaving off the brackets for each command here) is QUOTE=name where the name may be the screen name of a Cove member or any other name (use no spaces between bracket and text nor before the = sign; spaces are OK in name.)
The close quote command is /QUOTE
test quote
test quote color test
test quote italic test
test quote size test
IMPORTANT
Do not use italics (which seems to screw things up a little), but all BOLD FACE and/or color seems to be OK if the bold face or color command includes the brackets. You can use any text font, size, or color commands on the quoted material within the quote commands.
In practical use, there are several ways to use the QUOTE.
(1) Clicking on the Quote box in the lower right corner of an individual post you want to copy will give you a text box with the QUOTE commands already surrounding ALL the text in the post.
If you want to delete some of that material as extraneous to your purpose, be sure not to delete any part of the QUOTE command, especially a bracket.
(2) If you want to split that material up into several boxes so that you can supply an answer to each part, clip and paste the open quote command and put it at the front of each section, then clip and paste the close Quote command at the end of each section so it will look like this in the final posting
test quote 1
Your first comment would go here
test quote 2
Your second comment would go here
test quote 3
Your third comment would go here
(3) You can clip and paste material from multiple posts or any other source and add your own quote commands to the front and back of the cited material - essentially what I have done in this post.
Any other questions?
