I couldnt decide where to ask this so I ended up here. We are working on "everything has a place" and doing some color coding. Anyone want to give me info on the current colors the industry tends to use them for. For example, we are looking at identifying work cell incoming material, outgoing material, aisles, fork truck charging areas, first aid stations, electrical boxes.
thanks,
Mike

Depending on where you are (and what industry) the standards differ. Some do crossover, but not all.
The obvious ones are not even so obvious any more.
Red means REJECTED MATERIAL/PARTS, but also means FIRST AID, FIRE, etc.
Yellow is usually for TRAFFIC LANES, but can also mean INDETERMINATE STATUS (i.e. pending investigation and disposition)
Green is (usually) GOOD MATERIAL/PARTS, but can also mean OXYGEN STATION INSIDE.
If you have access to the info (or someone here does, I am sure) there are some MILSTD's that are probably easily applicable, and most of them make sense. And if you don't like them, you can always make your own up as you go along.
Good luck with your project.

Thanks Ron, I'll look through the MILSTD's and see if I can find additional information.
