I'm working the QCI test questions disk in preparation for the CQT exam. I'm finding lots of questions that reference these types of standards. Is there some sort of concise resource that outlines these? I can get the questions about 50% correct using what I know and some sort of applied logic. Others I have no idea what the standard states or even where to find the information.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm pretty weak in the statistics portions of the exam so am trying to make sure that I can correctly answer as many non-stats questions correctly to increase my chances of passing.

You mayn only need to be familiar with a dozen. Try www.iso.org (http://www.iso.org) and search in the international standards. They some times have an abstract. Odd. the sample CQT test on the ASQ site doesn't have any questions like that in its 50 sample questions. I'm finding lots of questions that reference these types of standards. [ANSI and ISO Standards] Give us a couple of samples of what you mean.

A small manufacturing operation is certified to ISO 9001:2000. After they acquired a CMM, they plan to move their surface plate to storage. They are required to do all of the following except: (This is one I an answer using logic)

Which of the following stanards apply to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing? (choices are ANSI/ISO/ASQ 10011, QS-9000, ANSI/ISO/ASQ 9001, ASME Y14.5M-1994) I got this question right, but I just guessed that it was the ASME standard.... I guessed this because I use to be a member of ASME!

Al is correct in that for most people it is impossible to "memorize the Standards." It is, however, important to be familiar in a "broad brush" way with what Standards [the ones used in a particular branch of Quality] cover.

I guessed this because I use to be a member of ASME! you might have guessed the ANSI/ISO/ASQ Standards applied to systems and that would have left the ASME. The point was you needed to know "something" about GD&T in order to guess, even if you were not a GD&T maven, dealing with technical drawings every day.

Heck! After dealing with technical drawings for 20 years, I still keep my handbook close by for when I come across a drawing with a GD&T notation I don't recognize.

What I mean is "you don't need to drag these various Standards along to the exam as references, but you are expected to know in a general way what they contain." Perhaps a "reminder sheet" of each of the Standards with a short description will help you answer this part of the Body of Knowledge:

Define and distinguish between quality standards, requirements, and specifications.(Comprehension)

Make sure you familiarize yourself with what the BOK says is "testworthy"

All your questions are very typical to the first time exam takers. I had all those questions myself when I wrote the first one. and second one and third one..and later understood myself the answer for those questions and was able to do further 3 with better confidence.

ASQ Questions will test your understanding and not memory.
Unless if a reference Quality Standard is included in the BOK, you donot need to carry that standard.Typically CQT handbook OR QCI Primer will have those reference tables if covered in BOK.
Ability to interpret the Z1.4 table and pick the sample size or Acceptance , Rejection number , yes.
