View Full Version : Data logging software for Palm powered PDA required

I have a requirement to capture various measurement data from many measurement systems, but primarily from Bowers SmartGauges (accurate hole diameter inspection gauges).

Previously I have used a laptop running WinWedge software from www.taltech.com (very good software by the way), but have now been asked to slim line the process by using a more portable device such as a PDA.

There is a version of WinWedge called WinWedge CE that runs off Windows powered PDA’s, my question is; does anyone now of any Palm based software as we only have a Palm powered PDA onsite.

Failing that, does anyone know, or have used, similar software to WinWedge on a PDA (Palm or Windows based), that could give me some pointers.

To be honest I’m not after anything fancy, no graphs stats or anything, just to simply put the data as we measure it into a PDA with pocket excel.

Cheers

You didn't specify whether the data is manually entered or is transferred electronically somehow.

Our quality department has recently developed and implemented an Access-based final audit inspection program for PDAs. The inspectors scan the container's bar-code label, which brings up all the product information for that lot, audit criteria for that part number, reference pictures and the fields to enter their results. Their university co-op students (computer sciences) wrote it using VisualBasic. (Just one of their projects).

It's amazing what can be done these days
