It may seem obvious BUT . . . my client has chosen to monitor uptime to comply with the requiement for predictive maintenance. Do auditors accept data and tracking of DOWNTIME? It is not the same as uptime but what is REALLY this difference?

I would like to hear from people who successfully monitor uptime and how it is done.

thanks for your response in advance and contributing to this forum.

At our company, most of our fabs are utilizing TPM, which utilize tool "availability" as a critical measurement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness. Availability is usually tracked through some sort of electronic tool interface (PROMIS) that allows for certain categories of "unavailable" or downtime to be utilized to more accurately track what causes downtime. If this helps, and you're interested, I can give you more information on TPM and availability

There is a software package called QDOX version 3.0 which allows you to track
all maintenance whether scheduled PM or unscheduled maintenance or repair. It
allows you to do predictive maintenance by evaluating the history of the
equipment including any calibration. It has the capability to track how much
you spend on maintenance and repair including tracking hours for in house
workers as well as subcontractors who may perform the work for you.

If you are interested you can contact the company at Pnent@aol.com for more
information or call them at (503)659-9923 8AM to 5PM Pacific Time.
