Hi guys I need some help here!
I have just this week recieved a CS1 for a quality problem, and at the end of the month am being auditted to TS16949.
Does this destroy my chances of passing the audit?
Reading the guidance notes on the IAOB, the problem I will have is that we will have carried out the corrective action but the CS1 will not have been closed by the next audit.
I would appreciate your thoughts.

The fact that you received a CS1 is part of doing business. It may be looked at during your audit but unless you are simply ignoring it, it shouldn't effect your outcome at all.
The note in the IAOB guidance refers to closing a nonconformance in the initial audit, not in your internal system. IMHO you should relax and not worry about it.

That sounds almost verbatim like what we experienced. Now, knowing that all auditors are different and inconsistent....
Because we took the steps our system said we would, because we carefully and methodically took the appropriate actions, it was a moot point all around.
However, I will bet you 30 to 1 that it will come up in our next surveillance audit, but as for the registration, we were good to go.
Good Luck :rar:
Just some thoughts.....

Relax - breathe! Here is what AQSR has in their Stage I audit
If GM CS1, CS2 or DCX Needs Improvement detail findings in the Observation table& also detail within the Observation that if the status is still present during the Stage 2 Assessment then a Major Nonconformance will be issued.
(A recommendation to proceed with Stage 2 Assessment may still be issued).
If GM NBH Quality then a Not Recommended to Proceed to Stage 2 Assessment will be issued, unless confirmation is received from GM that GM permits the organization to proceed to Stage 2 Assessment. Detail findings in the Observation table
If Ford Q1 Revocation then a Not Recommended to Proceed to Stage 2 Assessment will be issued, unless the Q1 Score is solely due to “Capable Systems” & verifiable objective evidence from the Ford STA is available stating that the organization is not Q1 due to not having a compliant QMS. Detail findings in the Observation table.
Apparently this comes from "IAOB clarification of the Impact of Customer Special Status Conditions"

Sorry to hear about the CS1 - we've have never had to go there - yet.

Hello All:
What are "CS1", "NBH", and "DCX?"
Thank you, Dirk

CS1 - "Controlled Shipping level I" - a General Motors supplier quality req't
When the customer determines (due to one or more defects received) that the
supplier's QA system is incapable, they formally require an additional, redundant
(is that redundant? ) inspection for the concern, with documented inspection results sent to the GM authority.
NBH - If Controlled Shipping and/or other corrective measures still don't
work, or if the supplier refuses to play ball, the quality and purchasing people
from GM will officially notify the supplier that they are on New Business Hold -
no new contracts for new work until the problems are corrected. PRetty serious.
DCX - Daimler Chrysler (their stock ticker symbol).
