My organization follows something we call the "Quality Airplane". 6 blocks, linked with arrows indicating the proper flow, aligned to form a top view of an airplane...or a cross, rotated 90 degrees.

This Quality Airplane is a pictorial representation of Routine Management and includes the topics of:

Standardize
Train
Follow the standard
Record results
Audits
Treatment of failures

I'd include the picture, but due to proprietary reason, am unable to.

Does anyone else use something simliar? If so, what do you call it? Do you have a catchy name for it? Do you have any tools to help evaluate the effectiveness of your Routine Management?

All other items, such as planning, benchmarking, Customer relations, reviews, etc., are at various levels within Improvement Management according to the "schematics" of our Management System Technology. For now, I'm focusing only on Routine

The word "Global" speaks to me regarding standardization and "Flow management" seems to speak to me regarding routine management.

I like the airplane idea a lot - anything visual = good.

One thing - have you given any though to changing quality to business (sorry, I just gotta ride my favorite hobby horse)

We currently use turtles.

Our sister plant uses spokes of a wheel (we make wheels) and I like their design a lot. They hired a graphic designer to create it and it looks super. We will likely adopt it.

You ask a good question, after 2,000? years there is no universally simple business graphic.

Sounds like an opportunity to create the next big thing after six sigma!

AHHHH....as much I would love to that (my time to ride!), the term is mandated by corporate and I gotta work with the tools I'm given.
