Hi folks
I read CQE BOK and noticed that PPAP & AQAP is not included in the BOK. It has some information about FMEA why not include these 2 above mentioned ingredients.

The reasoning could be that PPAP is specifically an automotive requirement. I think APQP principles are addressed in the BOK although not by the name APQP. Again, this may be because it is although thought of as automotive (by that name). As there are many quality people out there who are nothing to do with automotive, I would not be in favor of including them as specific sections. I certainly think the concept and quality tools used in those disciplines are usefull and should be included.

I agree, Dave. Any industry specific procedures should not be part of the body of knowldge of quality engineering skills and methods. PPAP is made up of both administrative tasks (submission package / paperwork) and quality assurance activities (gage R&R, capability studies, inspection results, etc.). The former is simply procedural, not a skill set. The latter is definitely related to QA and IS in the BOK. The gist of the thought process for APQP is also addressed in the BOK.

Also, FMEA is fairly well known across industries and is rightly addressed.
