I have been asked to develop a job description for a QA Engineer. We are a small manufacturing company.
What's expected of a QE in your company might be different from what's expected elsewhere. The easiest path to a job description is to define what it is the person will be expected to do, then write it down. If your company is considering hiring a QE, what's the impetus?

I work at a small company after working for larger companies and in your evaluation of what this position is to do, there will be tasks that would not be thought as a part of anyone's job description.

I always put in: "Performs other tasks as required "

My job description however, has "Performs other related tasks as required."
A reason why the job description should not be written by the person doing the job.

JSW05 is correct in listing the your expectations. If you want the practice you could put it in the form of a fishbone analysis :tg:

A questin from another thread, if you specify a CQE for the position, will they have to maintain the cert to stay employed with you?
