Hello All:
FYI. A new Guidance Document on 1.2 Application has been published (N524 - Guidance on ISO 9001:2000 Sub-clause 1.2 'Application'). It is available at the following website. It is worth a read.

Another good source of information is the Auditing Practices Group web site www.iso.org/tc176/ISO9001AuditingPracticesGroup. This group is joint venture between ISO and IAF and containes both ISO Guidance Docuements and IAF Guidance Information

I'm curious - what is the primary difference between this document and previous revisions? I note this is Revision 5 and about 77K larger than my copy of Revision 4. Help out an old man - don't force me to read each and compare line by line to discover the answer for myself.

With out reading it myself here is what is posted
Revision of the ISO 9000 Introduction and Support Package document giving advice on ISO 9001:2000, Clause 1.2 Application
Following feedback on some of the ISO 9000 Introduction and Support Package guidance documents, a revised version of:
§ N524 - Guidance on ISO 9001:2000 clause 1.2 'Application'
was published in 2004. However, an example of a complex organization was not included at that time, as sufficient consensus had not been reached within SC2 on it. A revised version of this example has been produced and is expected to be added to the paper in the near future.
We have now arrived at the near future

Ah, yes! This is a prime example of the value of adding a "cheat sheet" to a new version of a document which highlights revisions from previous version - so old guys can skip right to the changes instead of having to compare old and new versions side by side to discern the difference. Too bad the TC committee didn't see fit to add such a highlight to Revision 5.
This is vaguely reminiscent of USA tax forms where one must constantly obtain more new documents to understand the references in any current document.

Hello Wes:
I would really appreaciate it if you would post revsion 4 of the Guidance on Application. My first thought was that only example 10 was added to the guidance document. Example 10 describes a complex business. But after I re-read revision 5, I think there may be other changes.
I cannot find a copy of revision 4 and would appreciate seeing your copy. I would like to compare the documents line by line.
Thank you, Dirk

Thank you, Wes.
Based on my review, the only change to N524 - Guidance on ISO 9001:2000 clause 1.2 'Application' was the addition of example #10.
