View Full Version : Caliper repair procedure - I need a caliper repair procedure for dial calipers janah214 22nd July 2005, 02:27 PM I need a caliper repair procedure for dial calipers. Can anyone help? Jim Wynne 22nd July 2005, 03:02 PM I doubt that you're going to find a repair procedure here, although if you do a search you might find a calibration procedure. Repair of calipers (and other precision devices) is a job for professionals. Wes Bucey 22nd July 2005, 06:30 PM In our shop, by the time a caliper needed repair (broken dial, bent, stripped gear, etc.), the economics were often such that we found it more economical to simply replace it. We presume you do mean REPAIR and not simply "adjustment for calibration," so you will need to do two things: Talk to the original manufacturer to assure spare parts are available In the same conversation, ask for a repair procedure specific to the brand. As James says, it really is a job for professionals and can rarely be economically justified as a casual in-house process, because of the necessity of either carrying an inventory of spare parts or waiting long lead times for replacement parts. |
