I suppose you could do that, but what would that number mean? I would suspect that you might need to know what contributes to inspector efficiency (i.e. knowledge, equipment, conditions, etc.) that allow you to take an enumerative solution and make it into an analytical problem.

Also, are the inspectors checking identical products/same complexity? (Not an idle question, ours don't)
Do you correlate defects found and reported with the efficiencies? Our inspectors find that inspection time goes up greatly when there are problems to report.
We're also trying to find out efficiencies/projected inspection times for our products. I'll be watching this line with interest.

An old model for this I came across (and it is old) is to determine the ratio of the number of faulty lots incorrectly passed and the number of good lots incorrectly failed agianst the total number of lots.

This probably will not help, but it is tea break and I wanted to say something!!!!!
