Does anyone know if a Checking Aide is used to pass parts for PPAP, are you still required to measure the parts for PPAP or is this section waived? (I know the Checking Aide would have to be verified dimensionally).

If you have data that shows that the device is capable of discriminating at drawing tolerances, and MSA to show that the system works, then you should be able to use attribute data from the gage in place of a discrete dimensional report. Be aware, however, that you should discuss this with your customer in advance; they might have a specific reason to want a detailed dimensional report, and sometimes PPAPs get reviewed strictly on the basis of whether or not there's paper behind each tab in the binder. |
