Minitab is easy to use, just try the demo (30 days free, full functionality). See:
http://www.minitab.com/downloads

I take Minitab for my courses in statistical data analysis in qm. Participants almost always haven't had any contact with a statistical software before and after a few hours they are able to make metrics, graphics, qcc's, capability analysis and all the other stuff they need.

If you have specific questions on Minitab you'll find several experts in the Cove.

Barbara

I'll just throw in that as a user of Excel, making 2,000+ charts (SPC, Pareto, and Histograms) per month, posting results on intranet fileservers for all to see (everyone on the project has Microsoft Office), I would not personnally switch to Minitab.

On the counterpoint, I find Minitab quite helpful when more involved statistical
procedures (e.g. ANOVA, regression) are required. I do agree with Steve that most of what we need to do can be done in Excel. But for special studies, it can be a pain to create the Excel code, and easy to make mistakes. Minitab also has excellent documentation and help screens that not only explain how to use the software, but also explain some of the statistics.

One negative, last I looked Minitab cost about $1000 USD.
