We have a number of customers who each have different document retention periods. To satisfy AS9100 requirements, do we need to state specific retention periods for each customer in our manual or can we just state something like 'documents to be retained in line with customer requirements'.
thanks

Can you pick a storage period that covers all customers? Most storage periods are minimums. Other wise you could say "unless otherwise specified by customer or contract, record retention shall be", some period that covers most of your customers.

Hi Rachelb and Welcome to the Cove.
I agree with M Caruso on this. Try to determine the max length you need and apply that across the board.
Back in a previous life when I work for an aircraft parts manufacture, our requirements for the FAA and DoD were 5 years after shipment of product. We added 2 years to that to cover some items that were kept in stock.
I suggest you perform a search in the AS9100 forum for record retention requirments. You may find some useful information.
