Could you please provide us the PSW on QS9000 format for the parts mentioned on the attached file. Please be aware that for Ford project the requires are:

The number of Ford should be referred on the PSW
If the supplier is a Q1 in the document should appears mentioned or the
stamp of Q1, if not it's mandatory that the responsible Ford STA has to
sign of the PSW as customer approval.
The document should be less than 3 years old

If the documents are not available at the moment please give us a possible delivery date.

Document retention is a customer-specific requirement. I don't have my manuals here, but I know that GM's requirement for PPAP retention is the production life of the part plus one calendar year. Thus if the part goes out of production today, the requirement would be to retain the documentation until January 31, 2006. You need to ask the customer (in this case, Ford) what the specific requirements are.

GM, Ford and DCX have the same term, as far as I know - life of production part, plus service, plus one year. (Don't forget the service life, which may vary by customer. )

I have not heard the referenced comment of "no more than 3 years." That would require Ford to revalidate mature parts every 3 years, from a Q1 facility? It wouldn't make sense to me.

Yes, you're correct about the service part. Remember, though, that with GM at least, that's one calendar year, not just 12 months. If end-of-life came in January, it would mean nearly two extra years of retention.

I'm with you, I never heard of the 3-year thing either.

As I understand it they want to know that the PPAP has been approved within the last 3 years. If not then they want to see a new PSW

I would like to hear from someone who is actually doing this. Are Ford STA's signing new PSW's every three years on mature parts?

I learned, that when Ford STA signed the PPAP, this is 2 Years valid. When you have Q1 and can self approval, than the PPAP is only 1 Year valid.
