Hi: Please see the information I received via email (consultant requesting payment to see changes):
The PPAP Fourth Edition is scheduled to be released in the first part of 2006. The PPAP Fourth edition has 10 major changes including revisions to reflect techniques found in the Automotive Process Approach. In addition, there have been several significant changes to the customer submission requirements and PSW forms. Organizations registered to ISO/TS 16949:2002 who supply to the US Big 3 will only have three months to implement the changes once PPAP Fourth Edition has been officially released.
Has any-one seen the changes?
Many thanks to all for their help.

According to the AIAG Website (https://mows.aiag.org/source/Orders/index.cfm?ETask=1&Task=1&SEARCH_TYPE=FIND&FindIn=1&FindSpec=ppap) the 4th Edition "...should be available in October." They've been saying "should be" for about a year or so now, and note that they don't say October of what year.http://elsmar.com/Forums/images/smilies/laughbounce.gif http://elsmar.com/Forums/images/smilies/frustrated.gif

I've been given to believe there are no "major" changes, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

None of the past revisions to PPAP have been retroactive. So you would only need to think about new PPAP submissions once the book is released... whenever that occurs. I wouldn't spring for a consultant who tries
to tease you that way, selling by fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Instead, hire a consultant like myself!
who gives you the facts... just the facts.

Remember, most consultants are (no offense, Brad) salesmen first, and consultants second.

They need to convince you that you NEED them to help you through the changes....if they told you that the changes were all minor, and could be resolved in a 15 minute 'overview' briefing, how much $$$ do you think they would make?

Now I have it from a normally reliable source that it "should be" January of '06

I would relax a bit. All the AIAG and IAOB documents which have come out have allowed generous transition teams, even when the changes were minor. I would be surprised if they only allowed 3 months. And, as stated before, changes are generally not retroactive. It will come out whenever they finally have it ready. You may be doing the new stuff before your STA/SQE is ready fro it...
