Marc,
Is it possible to add a field for Skype names as well as the other messenger services?
:thanx:

I haven't seen a hack for a Skype 'use name' so right now I'd have to say no. Rereading your post, AIM and several IM clients are 'supported'. What other 'messenger services' are you referring to and where would you want their icon?

I meant
Instant Messaging
You may enter your registered identity for the instant messaging networks if you would like other visitors to be able to contact you using that medium.
ICQ Number:
AIM Screen Name:
MSN Messenger Handle:
Yahoo! Messenger Handle:
That's all. It is no big deal just thought to keep up with the times.

I'll take a look and see if there's any flexability there but I think the instant messaging links are 'hard coded'.

I can easily add it as an extra profile field, but I don't think I can add it and make it show up in places such as in posts like the 'instant messaging' icons do.

Resolved. SkypeWeb is also integrated into this version of vBulletin.

See Skype - Free Computer to Computer Internet 'Telephone' (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=10773)

NOTE: If anyone can post a 'How To Install on Windows', or a good link, it will be appreciated!

I still don't see the Skype pic. Is it just me? See the enclosed picture.

You should at least be getting an icon... If other folks are having problems with no icon at all, please let me know...

I'm not sure what to say. I'm told that the Mac does not do SkypeWeb. What I see for me on my Mac using FireFox is a Skype icon, grayed with a question mark.

Howard said on his machine it does show me as online when I'm online.

I know on my Mac I bought the 'voicemail' option for US$20 a year and it didn't work until I completely (all preference files, etc.) erased all traces of the old version and reinstalled the latest version. Now voicemail works fine for me, including notifications of new voicemails.

Howard said on his machine it does show me as online or offline.I'll have a look from home, and see what it looks like there. The picture may be stuck in some filter.

I've signed in to Skype and will remain signed in for the next couple of hours. Maybe someone can determine if the Skype icon "lights up" while I am logged in.

OK - Now to get connected. Laura installed Skype and she left me a voicemail, so she apparently has hers working.

It's weird, Claes, I look at my icon and jaimezepeda's icon and it's grayed with a question mark. Your's shows here as grayed with an X. Anyway, I added you to my 'buddy' list.

There are different signs that can be found inside the skype icon:

- " √ " means the person is "on line" - the icon lights up green.
- " x " means the person is "off line" - the icon stays grey.
- " ? " means the person may be "on line" or may be "off line" but has decided not to tell you. - the icon stays grey.

My icon stays in the last case " ? " because I do not how to change it.
Howard, your icon I have already seen in the green mode - how did you do it?

Best regards,

Antoine

And the person viewing the forum has to have Skype installed on their computer to be able to see if someone is online or not.

Marc, why is your icon with a question mark for the moment ?
Is it on purpose ? ( of course you have the full right to do that - just asking )

Best regards,

Antoine
