Hi all,
Lucky me more responsibility without more pay. Done ranting. I need to determine environmental aspects for a boating day cruise wildlife viewing tour operation and cannot find any resources about the environmental aspects in a marine environment. Does anyone have any experience in this?
Thanks,
The Liller

Ah yes. Just as much fun as more responsibility without more authority. ;)
No experience, but some thoughts:
Exhaust gasses
Water contamination from fuel or oil spills
Also, from http://yosemite.epa.gov/water/owrccatalog.nsf/0/cf0474e9ad71a71b85256fc0006f676b?OpenDocument
Changes in several water quality parameters before and after limited boating activity were monitored. Agitation and mixing by boating activity destratified the lake and in some cases, increased oxygen concentration and the rate of oxygen uptake by suspended matter. An increase in turbidity was observed and was generally dependent on water depth, motor power, and nature of bottom deposits.

There's something about the environment around Somalia that might make a cruise boat business less than successful. :mg: But there is plenty of "wildlife".

Yep, that was one of my first thoughts.
Energy consumption, non-hazardous waste generation, recycling, noise, etc.

Maybe try checking this link for Princess/Carnival. These folks had to implement an EMS as part of an EPA settlement from what I remember...I may be wrong so don't take what I say for gospel. Cruise lines and the EPA have clashed in the not too far distant past.
