Some companies has been required to pass ISO14001 and TS2 certification, and they really are implementing a intergrated management system(IMS). However, there is complusory requirement of process approach for TS2 audit recently. So what is your opinion on IMS audit with the process approach especially for ISO14001?
Would some experienced experts recommend some references or give some clue about the idea(IMS audit)?:thanx:

Richard:
What are you trying to audit? Your ISO/TS 16949 QMS with environmental activities added in, as an IMS? Or, do you just want to audit the Environmental Management System using the process approach?
Could you explain?

Many of the requirements are the same in both standards. Doc, control, auditing, etc. The remaining activities can be defined as activities or processes, Aspects and Impacts, determining legal requirements, and fit in very well with the TS process approach.

ISO 14001 is designed along the process approach with specific inputs, activities and outputs so audit it as designed. In fact every clause is a type of process if you think about it.

Sorry, I haven't clarified the questions, So let me give you some backgroup of our company.
First our company is a joint venture division headquartered in Gemany, which need to be certified as TS2 and ISO14001 in combination.
Second traditionally ISO14001 emphasize on the old audit approach-element audit, nevertheless TS2 require the new way-process audit.
To avoid the possible internal conflict, we need a better way to conduct the internal audit more effeciently, so do anyone who is experienced in using process approach to audit ISO14001 give us some clue? An example will be preferred.
You know, we haven't conducted two systems audit together using process approach! :thanx:

I think it is a good idea to combine the two programs, in most cases. There is a straightforward solution. The processes in TS or ISO 9001 are basically activities. Well, the clauses in ISO 14001 are essentially activities also.
Many are the same: Document and Record Control, Corrective or Preventive Actions, Calibration, Measurement, etc. Some are very similar: Training, Management Review, Internal Audits.
Those activities in ISO 14001 that are identical can be completely integrated with their counterparts in TS. Those that are similar can be integrated with a little bit of additional writing in the TS procedures.
Those few remaining activities in ISO 14001 that do not have a match in TS, ie: Aspects and Impacts, Emergency Preparedness, etc., can be addressed as processes and just added to the TS system.
This is made even easier if the TS system is defined as a Business Management System, not just a Quality System.
