I've been asked to write an article for a local monthly business journal about ISO 14000 and its relationship to banking and investment. Anybody got any clues? i've got to get this done quick.

Thanks...

How about some real meat for nay-sayers?

I can only guess you will look at it from the aspect of lending and investing in companies with consideration to a company's certification. Lower risk factor than with unregistered companies from an environmental compliance stand point.

Randy - suggest approaching it from 2 points of view:
1. ISO14001 can give a lead (aka hint) for due diligence in takeover situations (banks often involved)
2. Management commitment to regulatory compliance (reputation), pollution prevention (heavy cost avoidance) & continual improvement (supply chain) that is required by ISO14001 can be significant to investors wanting confidence in riskier investments.

Thanks, that's helpful. I only get 500 words and they have to pack power.

Randy - then I'd pick a theme of "managing risk" (bankers & lawyers love that stuff) & use due diligence as a bonus
