can someone please explain what exactly is benchmarking and how it differs from the standards of ISO or QS?

I moved this thread to what seems like a more appropriate forum. Benchmarking is the practice of comparing one's business practices, methods, processes, etc. with those of a company believed to be superior in those areas, so it can't be compared with international standards.
