I am getting ready to take the CQT exam in March. Can someone tell me(who has passed) what reference material best helped them.

Thanks,
Jeremy Hill

I took the CQT exam when it first became available ~15 years ago, and I remember using Juran's Handbook and Gary K. Griffith's Quality Technician's Handbook. I don't remember the extent to which I used them, although the latter book has a lot of good reference information on subjects that were addressed on the exam at that time.

I passed the CQT exam last March. I had to learn a lot as someone new to the field, and used the Quality Council of Indiana Primer and CD. As references I took the primer, Juran, and The Certified Quality Technician Handbook (Benbow, Elshennawy, Walker). This book came with an additional CD that had some sample exam questions. I also happened to have a "Memory Jogger" given to me by my prevous employer ... "A Pocket Guide of Tools for Continuous Improvement and Effective Planning." That is something I already had and was helpful for quickly looking up some basic info about the various quality tools.

There are additional threads on the CQT exam if you go to page three of this forum.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Hello Jeremy,

There is in fact a lot of discussion on the CQT, and in most I've seen favored Griffith's book. It is probably the best. The only other references I used was the CQT handbook and QCI Primer as mentioned above.

Good luck!
