View Full Version : Retaining DV/PV Samples - For how long?

Hello: We are trying to do some house cleaning and are looking for the exact specifications, requirements, procedures for GM North America and Ford North America that state the DV and PV test part retention requirements, if there are any at all. The record retention requirements are clearly stated as life + service + one year.
Does anyone have any clues? My contacts at these institutions are not aware because they aren't required to follow supplier requirements. The best bet would be other suppliers!

Thanks!

Jen

Hi Jen

Although we don't supply America we do supply the Ford Group in England.

We have always believed that DV and PV test parts should be retained for life + service + one year. I have never seen it writted down though. We have a lot of samples about too.

If we do internal testing our system states that the sample will be retained for one year unless otherwise stated. Most of our reports state that the sample was returned to the requester of the test to reduce the number of samples kept.

If you ever find out any different please let me know as it would help us reduce the number of our samples as well.

This is the requirement for PPAP parts according to QS and the PPAP handbook.
PV parts could be regarded as PPAP master parts which you have any way. I do not see why DV parts need to be kept.
Anyone else with more info?
