Dear All Forum Visitors,
Please elaborate on ISO 14001:2004 (all) Legal requirements pertaining to Automotive sector. Please take the cases such as OEM, Tier 1 with respect to Components, bulk materials manufacturer and the service providers such as heat treaters, Logistics providers and so on . It will be of great help and useful to me ,if information sufficient to prepare apporx 100 slides all inclusive for automotive sector is considered and knowledge shared.
Note : I am new to this ISO 14001:2004 (EMS field of activity,no experience)

I think there's a current discussion in a thread here of Ford's requiring ISO 14001 but can't find it off hand. I think Ford requires registration and GM compliance, but I'm not sure. One of the other folks will probably help here.

That is correct. Ford requires it in their Q1 standard. GM requires compliance or certification. DCX requires certification as well, by way of a joint letter several years ago.

Generally, the legal requirements refer to governmental requirements in your country, province and local areas. Customer requirements usually fall into the "and other requirements" category.

If you are new to ISO 14001, it would be beneficial to hire someone in the area who is knowledgeable of your areas' requirements. This is not an area that should be self taught, because you don't know whether you have it correct. Sort of like an attorney.

In the USA, many companies, if they don't have a specialist on staff, hire an environmental specialist and use his knowledge to help them in the difficult spoots, and they do the more basic things themselves.

I do not have such a document. However, the ISO 14001 standard, and the companion ISO 14004 document contain some information.
