View Full Version : Merge of Companies - Seperate organisations, but are now being merged into 1 company

Our sister company is accredited to TS16949.

We have been working towards it but have stalled due to a massive new product introduction workload.

The 2 companies have been seperate organisations, but are now being merged into 1 company for "business & accounting purposes".

TS16949 7.4.1 says "when there are mergers etc" but this applies to Suppliers.

Ive read through the IATF rules but its making my head spin. 2.3 says "For multiple site certification all sites shall be audited".

Can anyone give me a heads up on what will happen to our sister companies TS cert? Will it be suspended until we get our certification?

Hi shaun
To my knowledge the TS16949 is a system purely for the shop floor ,so if you are having two different manufacturing units and you are processing the component in both the units you should fallow the same TS system in both units.

There is no reason, unless you want to, to combine your systems. I have worked with a number of companies and each one has its own TS, even when the companies are in the same town.

I think the registrar should be contaced due to the change in status, then provide them with a written plan for your anticipated date of TS registration.
Shouldn't affect the current registration. But your registrar will guide you. Hope you have a good working relationship.:)

Hi,

As I feel the certification is given "in the name of a company & the types of products they manufacture".
Once you merge your company(sister) with the mother company the sister company name is no longer in use.
Hence I feel that the certification of the sister company is no longer valid though it's not cancelled.
If it was vice versa, that the mother company had the certification and the sister company got merged than the certification would be in force.

I believe you need to get a certification audit done.

:)
