It was a long and hard day, but he came in liked what he saw and approved us to move on to the certification audit. Ha did find some little "interpertation" issues, but we made our way past them. We are unique to the TS16949 standard being that we were never certified to ANY standard yet. We did have an need from two customers that propelled us to be certified. All in all it went pretty smooth. Showing twelve months of data was OK. We have one customer that fired the person in charge of reporting customr satisfaction in October and have yet to replace him. That left me with imcomplete data for 12 months and he almost stopped the show right there. I managed to aquire all the necessary numbers and justify that they were in fact legit for him to move on. We had operated on the "no news is good news" form of customer satisfaction. Well he wasn't fond of that and wanted a bar graph showing the last twelve months of data. Customer rejections and OTD were big with him...so we came up with a bar graph showing ZERO customer rejections and 100% OTD for the last twelve months and he was happy. Being a small company (under 50 employees) we did do some "bending" to get where we are. Once we are certified, we can always drop some things and call them "non-value-added" and he should be ok with that. Well I will bring good news on March 3rd as to our certification.
