View Full Version : Does RFQ from mother plant enough to initiate TS 16949 certification?

Currently, my client here in the Philippines which manufactures non-automotive transistors and capacitors and sends them directly to their parent company in Japan, is considering to get certification to ISO/TS 16949:2002. Their Japan plant, which is responsible for the product design, is already certified to TS 16949 and has plans to transfer production of automotive-related transistors/capacitors to the Philippine plant (they are currently on the process of getting Visteon). We approach some certifying bodies and ask if we are qualified to TS 16949 but we always get a reply that we need to be in an active bid list of a TS 16949 subscribing company outside of our corporate organization.

Another CB suggested that we wait for the surveillance audit of the parent plant and their scope can be widened to include us as a remote site. (The surveillance is 10 months away from now)

Is it enough that our parent plant to be the one that will require us get TS 16949 certification? Or do we need to wait for an RFQ from Visteon.

Hope you can give me some help on this matter.

I know the British government had an experimental fighter called a TSR 2, but what is 'TS2"?

I'm sorry, I abbreviated ISO/TS 16949:2002 to "TS2" and request for quotation to "RFQ".
