Hi Guys,
Has anyone got an example of a turtle diagram to audit the quality management system. I know the subject of turtles does raise a certain debate regarding their purpose and need, but our external auditors prefer us to adopt the methodology. I know the format but am at a blank as to where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Your Company is managment by processes, therefore you have a Process Diagram and you know how these process are interacting.
The Turtle Diagram represents basically what are the imputs, outputs of each process and how is measurred the efficency of the process and who is the owner of the process.
There is an attachment in this Site of the official IATF turtle Diagram.

Thanks Javier for that quick response I understand your reply, however I have been tasked to audit section 4 of the TS standard assuming 4.1 to 4.2.4 would it be in order to develop a turtle to reflect the clause headings or would this be deemed a clause based audit. How would the turtle look in this instance

Mike, you're doing WHAT? Auditing 4.1 - 4.2.4? Why, may I ask?
I'm concerned that you are doing something to please your auditor, that they 'prefer' you to adopt the 'turtle'. Whatever for?
I actually like the turtle, but why are you doing this 'element' audit in the first place and, then, why do what they'd like you to do? Any particular reason? Do they have a gun to your head, big stick in their hand?:mg:

AndyN,
We have 3 internal auditors to a ratio of 200 personnel spread over several sites. Our quality manager has planned that we cover sections of the standard from 4 to 8 I guess which would then amount to a quality management system audit. I thought that rather than just work from checklists I could audit using the process approach utilising turtles (if I knew how) what do you think
