Hi all,
I wonder if anyone could share a detection rating scale for a pFMEA for a process that does not involve any automted inspections??
thanks

Whether or not there is automated inspection has no direct bearing on PFMEA detection ratings. The same scale should be used whether inspection is by human or machines, because the idea is to determine the likelihood that defects will escape detection (or be detected, if you're more of a glass-half-full type:D ).

Welcome to the Cove :bigwave:
Here's a copy of one of my customer's rankings table. As Jim alluded to, the table includes both automated and "manual" detections.

Thanks,
I did think that myself, but every example I come across seems to differenciate between the 2.

My point was that automated inspection might be more likely to detect defects than human inspection, but the likelhood of detection should be rated using the same scale.
Added in edit: Just to clarify, if you use different scales for automated and human inspection, you have no valid way to compare the two.

The ones in the FMEA manual should apply. The lower numbers allude to that type of inspection.
