The ISO/TC 176 SC2 is now reviewing some minor changes or amendment to the exiting ISO 9001:2000.

Any takers?

On one hand, I hope they don't change it much, because it would interrupt the progress made so far and "cry wolf" in a manner of speaking.

On the other hand, I wish they would really work it over, giving it a more logical structure and division within. Of course, that's what a good quality manual does for a company, and getting a handle on the somewhat dicey, process-based structure of the standard is what separates the pros from the schmos.

GO GET IT TC 176!~!!~!!!!~

There are several threads already discussing this issue. I have even posted the Design Specification for the ISO 9001:2008 amendment.
There is no point in creating/maintaining redundant threads.
I suggest that, in case you have any relevant news, use one of the existing threads to share with the Covers, instead of adding a thread.

Capisce?

See these discussion threads for related information on ISO 9001:2008 (ISO 9001:2008 will be just an amendment):

and
Will ISO 9001 be modified in 2008? What will happen to TS 16949? (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=12112)

I have posted the Design Specification for the ISO 9001:2008 amendment.
Sidney, do you remember the thread the Design Specification for the next revision of ISO 9001 is posted in? I found the one of AS9100, but not 9001.

ISO/TC 176 SC2 WG 18 has issued a new document N084 whichspelled out some minor amendments to the existing ISO 9001:2000. This is not the design specification for ISO 9001:2008 - perhaps - just a minor amendment to the ISO 9001.

For example:-

4.2.3 (a) ...approve document..., (new) including updates

6.2.2 (a) ...determine the necessary..(new) affecting product conformity with requirements

7.5.5 Preservatio of Product.... (new) Where appropriate, this preservation shal include .....

8.3 (New text)... When nonconfomring product is detected after delivery or use has started, the organization shall take action appropriate to the effects, or pntential effects, of the nonconformity.

8.5.2 Corrective Action (f)... reviewing the (new) effectiveness of the corrective action.

As far as my knowledge is concerned ISO 9001 are revised after every 5 years. is this true? Let's see:

ISO 9001 first Edition - 1987
ISO 9001 Second Edition - 1994
ISO 9001 Third Edition - 2000

You do the math.

ISO 9001 first Edition - 1987
ISO 9001 Second Edition - 1994
ISO 9001 Third Edition - 2000

You do the math.

well, I think ISO 9001:2000 reflects really the needs of it's customers, I mean organizations ,I think it should take too much time to have new edition-I hope that - , but addendum is always expected .

for 94 edition ,that was really misrable ........this is why it last for 6 years.
