I am revising our Custom Contracts process because our Customers have changed their ordering process. We used to receive hardcopy PO's, now it's all electronic (EDI) and NO hardcopies once the quoting process is approved.
In reference to 7.2.1 and 7.2.2: 7.2.1 is "determine requirements" and 7.2.2 is "reviewing requirements". Doesn't review include determination at the same time?? :frust: Why, why, why are these separate actions in ISO? Or am I really reading to much into it and confusing myself silly?
I feel like Vinnie Barbarino from Welcome Back Kotter..."I'm sooo confused!"

The way I read the Standard, it tries to follow a logical sequence where by, first, you identify all applicable requirements. The second step is to review such requirements to ensure we can deliver it, requirements are not conflicting, etc... To me, it makes sense the way the two steps are split in the standard.

Your terminology is better than ISO! We do the "determination" and "review" all at the same time - I believe that is what is confusing me. I just have to revise this process carefully especially when we get verbal product requests/orders and no written Customer requirements! Our internally approved final quote becomes the whole ball of wax. 9 times out of 10, we do not get a written Customer approval - just a verbal! :mg:

You're on the right track, Lee. There's no reason that multiple requirements can't be satisfied in a single process.

There's no reason that multiple requirements can't be satisfied in a single process. I agree. And actually, the process could/should differ from the original custom order to repeat ones.

Yes, they do differ. We have a standard catalog order process for distributors/retail stores. Then we have the custom order process for OE stuff...basically, an OE will want to order something that is a standard item but with something added, deleted, changed, etc....then it's a custom order.
Thanks for all the input! :thanks:
