Can someone tell me the differences between these two standards? Is the UNI still a valid standard? I work for an Italian owned company here in the states. Their facilities in Italy are certified to the UNI and they want our domestic facility to be the same. Is this something completely out of the ordinary?

There is no difference. Many countries "release" their National Standard mirroring ISO 9001. Here in the US, it is called the ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2000: Quality Management Systems: Requirements (http://qualitypress.asq.org/perl/catalog.cgi?item=T2101)

The requirements are the same.

I agree...no difference

In Switzerland SN EN ISO9001:2000, (Schweizer Norm)
In England BS EN ISO9001:2000 (British Standards)
In Spain UNE EN ISO9001:2000 (U..... Norma Espanola)

etc, etc.
