View Full Version : Failure Modes for Machine Set-up/Production Dimensional Checks

In my control plan, I've included two process steps: one for the dimensions checked at set-up and another step for the (same) dimensions during the actual production run.

In my FMEA, since the same failure modes are going to be associated with the same dimensional characteristics and since these are two distinct processes in the control plan, can avoid duplicating all this information? Or am I not approaching this correctly?

Let the process flow diagram and PFMEA be your guide. If you treat the two steps as separate operations on the flow diagram, they should appear that way on the PFMEA. Whether or not both appear on the control plan depends on the PFMEA output.

Good point Jim!!
