I appreciate if some one could give me a hint on an estimate of costs incurred in IS0 standard ( from registration to certification)

For instance, for a public technical college.

You will need to get quotes from different Registrars (That are accredited to register a Public technical college). The price per audit day is what may be different. Also review Guide 62 at this website and it is available for download. That will give you a starting point.

Registration and certification are, essentially, the same thing. That is, you become registered and get a certificate.

Are you considering in-house costs or that of just the registrar?

As I stated. Look at Guide 62 and that would give you the minimum days that are required to perform the initial audit. The pricing is based upon Audit Mandays costs and I have seen them from $1000.00 to $2000.00 per mandays. This does not include travel costs, transfers etc.

In Malaysia, its $1500 to $2000 per manday, local currency (purchasing power parity). So, what's the point of knowing what it costs in another country. Just give your local registrars a call - they will be more than please to have another business contact.

Regards.

See the Registration Diary (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=8664), post #22. It's the sticky thread at the top of the TS16949 forum. The man-day requirements are a little higher for TS but the $/day are the same.
<Blows own horn>. If you are starting a project or just looking at project requirements, it's a great place to start, even if you are only going ISO9001.

Another question: Is there any standard procedures and prereqisite one should follow in the course of ISO certification?

Excuse me, I'm a little on the slow side at 5AM. I guess an answer would be to implement a management system and select a registration body who'll tell you what you need to know.

If you want all the details of where you need to be versus where you are now, you need to do a gap analysis. If you are not aware of what this entails,I suggest your find a qualified auditor/consultant to come in and do it for you. Then review the results and decide if you really want to pursue the ISO registration or compliance.
