We're in the process of outsourcing service parts to a third-party manufacturer. Many of these parts are more than ten years old. We will still be the supplier of record and are wondering if IMDS requirements hold true for service parts in a situation like this. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You should check with your customer to be sure, but normally you are still required to meet all requirements such as PPAP regardless of whether the product is Service only or not.

IMDS change apply.
:bonk: You have to raise a new Supplier PN or change Level in order to identify the change of Source, therefore IMDS , and you have also to raise a new PPAP, (New supplier) and therefore new revision Level and also apply change of IMDS.
The comment "Many of these parts are more than ten years old" is irrelevent due to the structure of IMDs is due to the Directive End of life vehicles. (To know the composition and limit of some Hazardous componets in vehicle, i.e chromium Hexavalent)
These fields are Mandatory to fulfill IMDS, therefore if a field change -> New IMDS
Company Name
Supplier Part No.
PN Description
Customer p/n
Material
Weight (g)
Eng Change Level (Piece Index)
Customer Drawing #
Drawing Revision Level
Date of Revision
Supplier Code
IMDS Code
PPAP Date
PPAP ID
And if there are a change in the limits of components for the part provided for the new Supplier.
Therefore at the end is in hand of your Customer, if the Customer require a new PPAP (Mandatory according to PPAP 4th edition) but at the end you know, Customer is Customer -> New IMDS.
Whether not you can avoid it identifing the new batch of source with the lot number on the label
So in order to avoid this paperwork I would ask the Customer.
