View Full Version : 4 Types of People
mirrorcrax 23rd August 2006, 03:59 AM A wise man told me there are 3 types of people:
one who knows, and knows that he knows, learn from him
one who knows but doesn't know that he knows, support him
one who doesn't know and doesn't know that he doesn't know, avoid him
however, with time i discovered that evolution has yielded another type:
One who Doesn't Know, Doesn't Know that he Doesn't Know, is Proud of his ignorance, and aggressive towards any who disagree...., what do you do with such a person?
I believe that each person is entitled to a reaction to every action, maybe a nod, a smile, a frown, a response, without such feedback you'll find open systems with no feedback who fail to adjust and re-adjust themselves, and eventually you'll find people popping up on tv shows with horrible voices and tasteless clothing and performance, just because people either decide that they'r a type 4 , so we'll just humor them or a type 3 so we'll just avoid him..........

Not at all. I like Auditors. Most of the Auditors that I have dealt with have been "cost value added." Also, the term Auditors does not necessarily mean External or QMS.
mirrorcrax 23rd August 2006, 08:55 AM The term auditor is derived from a latin word "Auditos" which means "to listen" and the words Audio, Auditorium, ....etc. are derived from it as well....
ralphsulser 23rd August 2006, 09:47 AM The one other type that is scarry is :
One who thinks he knows but doesn't and uses intimidaton and has authority to lead others astray.
(aka the big mouth know it all that became the boss);)
Sound familar?

I was once told that there are 3 types of people:
Those that make things happen
Those who watch things happen
and those who wonder "What happened?":D

Only one who knows that he doesn't know can be proud of being ignorant.
If he doen't know that he doesn't know then he doesn't know that he is ignorant and can't be proud of it.

Thanks for the information.

And here I thought that "auditor" was derived not from the Latin "auditos", but rather from the Spanish "adios": goodbye; don't bother us again until next year. :D

Thanks! :o
In BIG corporations, I have seen it happen though. They become promoted well above manager level to shut them up or move them out of the way of the day-to-day...so true.
I once worked for Hughes Aircraft Company (1985 - 1991). I saw this type of thing first-hand.

Isn't that like the "Peter Principle" where "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle)
Or
The "Dilbert Principle" refers to a 1990s satirical observation stating that companies tend to systematically promote their least-competent employees to management, in order to limit the amount of damage that they're capable of doing. In terms of effectiveness, it is akin to a band of gorillas choosing an alpha-squirrel to lead them. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dilbert_Principle)

Joe Hahn 24th August 2006, 01:35 PM I am reminded of a sign my highschool German teacher had -
"Die, die nichts wissen, und wissen daß sie nichts wissen, sind mir lieber, als die, die nichts wissen und wissen nicht daß sie nichts wissen."
This can be translated as "Those, who know nothing and know that they know nothing I like better than those who know nothing and do not know that they know nothing."
