We are planning to do an internal audit to our Tool and assembly department, we assemble fastening tools guns and machines, we are a small operation. What tips can you offer in order to maximize the efficiency of this audit and prepare the tool and assy dept for the next registrar audit, as well as to promote continual improvements.

Welcome your input,

Make sure the internal auditor understands or is familiar with the processes of these two depts.
Have the auditor study the relevant documentation for those processes.
Have the auditor focus on issues management are interested in, rather than just compliance to procedures.
Meet with the management of the departments before the audit to make sure the auditor understands any issues management are facing and solicit their support for the audit.
Make sure the auditor can tell/describe to you, what they're going to do, during the audit.

I'm assuming the auditor has been trained.....
