This is in regard to a Product Mix problem where i have 10 products with different profit margins . And these products go through a process of operations in a specific routing.
Processing : Line 1 - Line 3 belongs to plant A
Packaging : Packline7- Packline10 belongs to plant A
Processing : Line 4 - Line 6 Belongs to Plant B
Packaging : Packlline11- Packline14 belongs to Plant B
Constraints :
* If Pack7 is running , Pack10 cannot be used.
* If Pack11 is running - Packline13 cannot be used
*Each Product if started processing in PLant A should end in plant A ( the same plant)
HOw to formulate this kind of problems ?

I am afraid we need LOTS more information here. What is the processing sequence, for instance? How many units/hour are made/packed on each line?
Is this a school project?

Craig is right, there doesn't appear to be enough information, unless the solution is just to run everything in Plant A, and sell Plant B.

This sounds like it is likely a Linear Program. You can formulate Linear Programs in excel and solve them using the "solver" under the "tools" menu.

It sure does, Steve. I like working with them but rarely get the chance. Hopefully we will get the file soon.
