A high quality site will bring in the people, especially high quality folks. Congratulations, Marc! This is a great milestone for you and your site.:applause: :applause: :applause:

A milestone indeed. I have been watching those counters for a while too. I also have a feeling that the 5000/25000 ratio for active users vs registered users is not half bad. In fact, I think it may be very good :agree1:

It never felt so good to be a tiny fish in a huge pond...:)

Be honest, everyone - how many sites do you automatically log into every day? Is the Cove one of them???

Well done Marc...keep up the good work. :applause: :applause: :applause:

OK - Here's the deal. I was out of town since about 4 AM Wednesday. No computer access. Plane late coming back. Sat on the tarmack at Newark for almost 2 hours on return. So - I'm trying to get caught up, 58 e-mails, for example, not to mention my 'Thread Renaming' routine. So - I'm sorta 'burned' and still vibrating - Up for about 24 hours now. I'm winding down but wanted to respond.

I feel sorta weird when I hear "Congratulations to Marc and a job well done!!!". I just keep the server up these days. You folks are the ones who 'make' the forums what they are - The moderators and the people who help each other out. I do take pride in having started the site to begin with, but I cannot begin to claim I envisioned anything like what it has become. I used to put in a lot of time answering questions. But these days the content - The help - The real important aspect is you folks who contribute your knowledge, share files with others, and add to the knowledge base and discussions here.

That said, you should be thanking the people who help each other out every day. That is the essence of the Cove.

I thank each of you for everything you do! You ARE the Elsmar Cove!

This is as good as a time as any to mention this:

For those out there that visit periodically or are new, it is an understatement to say that there are those who put in a lot of hard work. Marc, the forum moderators, and even those that just check in every couple of hours put in a lot of work, which they get very little recognition, and not much pay. ;) Not only are your words and effort appreciated, but also to the fact that you continue to do it, helping something good, get so much better, deserves mentioning.

To wit:
1. Anytime someone makes a post, there are multiple, high-quality posts to the question, usually in a very short time-frame.

2. Even though people are in a hurry, a vast majority of the posts are lucid, well-written, well-researched and show they have thought in them. Point is, that takes time and patience. When 75-90% of communication in America is non-verbal, it is no understatement to state that effective written communication is challenging. It's so easy to misconstrue something, not be clear, get defensive, etc. But in my book, it takes solid folks to come out and say they're sorry, misunderstood, thank you, didn't think about that, good point, etc.

3. I don't know about the rest of you, but sometimes it does get a bit discouraging being in quality. Too, we hear buzzwords, or get a puzzling problem put before us, that it would be nice to get some feedback. It always nice, knowing you have an organization, of sorts, to rely on.

Seriously, truly: Thanks.

In my time here, I've found few standard deviants, but several extraordinary ones.

Update: Registered users reach 33000 mark.

I am forced to take a holiday today because of very bad weather and it gives me time to really go through the forum with a comb. One interesting thing I discovered is the phenomenal growth in registered users the last 15 months.

Based on my registration number and date of registration (September 05), and the registration number of the newest user today, there is a growth of 85% in registered users based on September 05 figures. (From 17992 on 12/9/05 to 33226 on 26/12/06.)

Fantastic isn't it?

It is fantastic. I have been an active member of two or three other forums (not quality related), have viewed many other forums and this one is the best at insightful exchange and terrific sharing of knowledge and help. Very well done Marc and all!

Your Thanks is appreciated. The majority of the success here is because of good moderators and regular visitors who aren't moderators but who help people out every day.

Hi Qualityalways,

When newly registered Covers express their gratitude for the information and help they've received here, we should encourage them to let others know about this great resource.
