For all of you who work in Corporate America or just in Corporate...... How are things going?

Budget Meetings..... Budget cuts..... no money..... What is going to happen in 2007?

In the company I work for There were meetings all of last and this week to let the management know that:

- There is no money for 2007
- No more Hiring
- No more "events" (anniversaries, birthdays, :hbday: :beerdive: :rar: retirement, etc.) :uhoh:
- No money for 2007
- Restrict Traveling
- They are not planning on firing anyone, but CYA and be ready for anything
- Return the remainders of the 2006 budget
- There is no money for 2007
- Get to work harder :whip: :whip: :whip:
- Pepsi's numbers (competition) went up
- Our numbers are coming (they are not good :o )
- Quality projects are to work with restricted budget :whip: :whip:
- There is no money for 2007

you will see a lot of this :gossip: in the news soon....

I'm happy to say that things are going well where I work, but if it's any consolation to you, I'm drinking a Coke right now. It's the pause that refreshes.

Well.... Thank You!!!! it is a consolation....... I just hope that our pause do not last too long and that it won't get any "colder" (refreshing - for that matter) :)

Sorry. I drink Mountain Dew with reckless abandon and go through withdrawals if I can't have it. I think pepsi took smoking's lead and is doing a better job of getting the youth addicted (I being in my mid 20's). You should look into that...:notme:

In response to your question, my company has been going through the same no more money talks for about 3-4 months now. All of our raw materials (mostly copper) have sky rocketed in price in the last year so the profit margins are shrinking dramatically. Down side of government contracting is long term fixed prices.

A lot of our big project money is supposed to be cut but not all of it. Just going to be a smaller pool of money for all of the engineers to fight over. Oh well...I'm not putting any dramatic explosions in cause I just went on a recruiting trip to hire interns for next summer so the cutbacks must not be too dramatic.

Fortunately, things are going great here. We're currently validating a 500,000sf addition to our plant, and production is expected to double in the next four years. That's on top of the 8 times gain in the fourteen years since I started here.

Every cloud...silver lining...blah blah blah

Some things look good. Some things look not so good. Company overall - :)

Our market is a cyclic market (SteelMaiden can attest to that, I'm sure). But we've made plans to survive the tough times with as minimal a disruption as possible to the way we operate.

FYI...I've got a cafe mocha in front of me, along with sweet-n-spicy trail mix and some wine gums...this is the Management Systems "Lunch o' Champions"!

mmmm, cafe mocha that would taste great right now. And, actually the trail mix sounds better than my salad. I am assuming wine gums are similar to gummy bears, etc., but in wine flavors? Oh, heck, lets just leave early and meet for a drink.!:bigwave:

Yep we are cyclical. I always get a kick out of the investment gurus who keep telling us that with globalization our industry will lose that cyclical nature. They've been barking up that tree for the lest 15 years, and that dog don't hunt yet...oops, i just kinda slipped into a dixie moment there. I am thinking that we may get another year or two out of this ride.

That one had me going as well. Turns out your guess is pretty close (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_gums). They look like Jujyfruits (http://www.oldtimecandy.com/jujyfruits.htm).

Thanks, I think. I knew in the back of my mind about the gelatin, but I try not to think about it when eating, I really should have passed on following the link. It just brought it all too close to home. :lmao:

I think pepsi is really picking up down here in the middle east, actually i do get upset when i go to a fast food place and find that they have coke not pepsi, coca cola has become the caramelish, too sweet drink from the past, pepsi is more of the new age fizz filled drink of the future you know

From my perspective things in Corporate America are getting along fine. Other than a few days vacation in November I am on the road nearly every day going somewhere and doing something for corporations...and it isn't free or cheap either.
