View Full Version : 6 sigma and automobile manufacturers Nirmal Nair 28th September 2000, 06:00 AM does anyone have some info on auto manufacturers implementing 6 sigma? thanx Marc 2nd October 2000, 12:47 PM As far as I know only Ford has a 6 sigma program. Ford is calling their program "Customer Driven Six Sigma". Their news letter FordWorld (May 2000 edition) states: "...best described as a key enabler to deliver breakthrough results in customer satisfaction. Six sigma applies basic statistical thinking in decision making at all levels to reduce variability and defects in design, engineering, manufacturing and business processes." ms22944 3rd October 2000, 04:15 PM You can read the text of Louise Goeser of FMC at webpage www.osat.umtri.umich.edu/mbs2000/mbs2000speeches/lgoeser.html (http://www.osat.umtri.umich.edu/mbs2000/mbs2000speeches/lgoeser.html) here in the UK Ford are using the 6-sigma tool in a big way. Hope this helps |
