Heard two today :
(1) Coon hunting- place a basket of rum soaked marshmallows in a tree.
Wait for the drunk critters to hit the ground.
Benefit : No need for rifle and ammo. You will need a bat and net.
(2) Squirrel fishing- place a chunk of corn on a treble hook (adequate sized) for your fishing rod.
Sit on your back porch and fish the woods.
Benefit : No need for rifle and ammo. You get almost as much fight as hooking a 5 # largemouth.

Watch out for Bambi lovers and other PETA* wannabes! They may want to string you up with your own fish line.

Can my friend hold the net while I try to bat the coon into it or would two people be considered "inefficient"?

If you have a friend, that means you need to get several critters so you can share the game.

No, no, no. You have the sequence all wrong. You throw the net over the critters and then you use the bat. Silly Yankees! :lmao: You get your friend to come along to help carry the bounty home. sheesh!

Hey..Hey...I resemble that remark. :p
Actually I lived down south (Raleigh, NC and Danville, VA) for several years, and if I had one wish......It would be to get a decent chicken biscuit with a glass of sweet tea for breakfast up here in Pennsylvania.
Some of the more interesting comments from Southerners:
C.A.R.Y., NC = Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.
D@mn Yankee = A northerner who moves to the South to stay versus just stopping down for a visit (aka, a Yankee).
The Civil War being referred to as the "War of Northern Agression".
Garbage in the yard (old cars for example) being referred to as "my stuff".

Yes, I am a D@mn Yankee myself, but they've given up fighting it, and accept me as one of their own now. Probably because I can now say faer with a straight face?
The next time I go through PA, do you want me to bring a cooler of sweet tea for you? They finally taught me to make it right, but I still can't drink it!

Man, you ask a lot, but I'm feeling generous today, so you go on ahead now, heah?
