View Full Version : Screw Thread Inspection Standards? Double Ended Stud Inspection Criteria

I am in the process of creating some work instuctions for my company, and I am hung up on one in paticular.
I had a customer issue with a double ended stud and the criteria for inspection, so as a "preventive action", I decided to write a work instruction.
The main issue is inspecting the incomplete thread or run-out thread. I cant seem to find any standard to use as reference besides the IFI ANSI B18.12 from 1982.
I want to include checking the Lg (or body length) and using a ring gauge with caliper, basically running the gage as far as it will go and then measuring from under the head to the gage. This is the way I was taught, but is there something written, like a standard that I dont have?
If anyone is in the fastener industry or knows of anything that would help, I would appriciate it greatly.
