View Full Version : Santa Looks Right at Home Now
Jim Wynne 2nd December 2006, 02:29 PM Here in beautiful Kenosha, Wisconsin (Motto: Gateway to Racine) we got an official total of 17" of snow on Thursday night/Friday morning. I had to dig poor Santa out of it, but he seems happy now. Personally, I think this White Christmas stuff is way overrated.
Sidney Vianna 2nd December 2006, 06:15 PM Nice pic, Jim.
I can bet that your inflatable Santa was designed and made in China. Not only because 99.5% of the goods sold in the US are made in China these days, but your Santa is way too slim for US and European standards.
H. Majhenich 3rd December 2006, 01:13 PM Hey, Jim - I'm next door to you in Racine. 'Been home for a week w/ bronchitis- made shoveling a lot of fun. Also lost a lifetime family friend to a heart attack while he was shoveling. Hit the car on what I thought was just a soft snowbank today trying to get into the parking lot at work. Revved up hard core to make it through w/ my little car, turned out to be giant block of ice. Major damage. I need to win the lottery and get out of here. I hope you and yours had a better time with the snow than I did.
Wes Bucey 3rd December 2006, 01:39 PM Just 1/2 hour south of Jim and Majhenich - we only had 15.2 OFFICIAL inches of snow.
Went out with my snowblower, gassed up, pulled the starter cord and had the rope break! Had to drain the tank to open it up to repair/replace the cord. Downloaded the repair manual for my model and serial number from Toro web site, only to find NO relationship between manual and my machine. Combination of rusted bolts and no clearance to use a socket wrench turned a forty minute task into 3 hours!
When it was all together again, I gassed up, and it started on first pull! That's when my wife asked why I didn't just plug it in to use the electric starter!
DOH!:nopity:
SteelMaiden 3rd December 2006, 03:29 PM That's what I'm talking about! This is the very reason I moved to the south. I don't care if I never see another snowflake again. We get snow once a year, right after Christmas, the day or night before school is supposed to start again. They end up with another week off:confused: every single year.
I'm wearing a pair of shorts and a T-shirt today, and thinking about running over to the beach...that is the only kind of white stuff that I want to see in my old age!:biglaugh:

Jim Wynne 4th December 2006, 01:44 PM We might get krappy weather in the winter in Wisconsin, but at least we don't have to worry about being found naked in the mouth of an alligator (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003456199_gator01.html).

Yes, but was his original intention to drain the swamp?

Spent Friday morning shoveling the driveway with my teenage son and chatting with the neighbor as she did same. Both our hubbys had left hours before the worst of the storm hit.
I asked her hubby the next day how she was doing after busting her tail on the driveway (she's got 10 years on me). He made a snide comment about her being crabby as always, and wouldn't she be mad to find out the snow blower had an electric starter.
Well - didn't we all get a laugh when 15 minutes later - he tried to fire up his electric starting snow blower and it wouldn't start!!
